Signs: The Gospel of John, John 6:16-21

When it comes to the miracles of Jesus, His walking on water is probably second only the feeding of the five thousand. Interestingly enough, these two miracles happened during the same time frame. What’s interesting about John’s account of Jesus’ miracle of walking on water is how little he tells us about it. Where the Synoptic Gospels go into great detail, John gives us just a few verses. John’s focus remains on Jesus’ teaching and His “I am statements,” here his declaration that he is the “bread of life” and what that means for his hearers.
