When reading the remainder of chapter eight we can see how it flows from John 7:52, without 7:53-8:11. Beginning with verse 12, Jesus is still at the temple at the time of Sukkot (the Festival of Booths.) In verse 12 we have the second of the seven “I am” statements that Jesus would make about himself—this time, “I am the light of the world…”
