A Culture of Commitment

Worship isn’t about what we like, it’s about what God is like and what God likes.
In Romans 12, Paul is teaching the church what a life that has been impacted by “the mercies of God,” should look like—the practical working of a life that has been justified by faith in Christ and is being transformed by the gospel. Romans 12:1 is a call-to-worship—translating our learning into living. Doctrine and duty always go together; what we believe determines how we behave.
Paul is calling us to a right understanding of Who God is and what He has done for us through Jesus—and then he tells us what that right understanding should look like: lives that are set apart in direction, desire, and devotion—lives that are committed to worship God.
