John 13:1-17

Point by point Jesus acts out symbolically what Paul descries theologically. Jesus came from the highest glory in heaven, into the depths of our human condition, took the form of a slave, accomplished our cleansing from sin by His death, and then is exalted to the right hand of the Father. Jesus, God incarnate, Lord and Master of creation—He is also the suffering servant who pays the price for sin—the ultimate humiliation of death on a cross.
